The Mockingbird Point Off-Leash Dark Park was formally opened to the public on Friday, June 8, 2001 in a ceremony featuring Texas Rangers baseball legend Nolan Ryan, although lakegoers and their four-legged friends were allowed to use the facility a full week prior to that date.
Although the park is on city-property, it was paid for with numerous private and corporate donations including a $25,000 grant from the Muenster Milling Company, a dog food manufacturer.
Today, the Dallas Dog Park improvements are entirely due to volunteer time and donations. If you'd like to help out, please donate or volunteer! We thank you, and the dogs thank you even more!
The Dallas Dog Park is open from 5AM to Midnight year round. The park is closed for maintenance on 2nd and 4th Mondays. The park is also closed in the event of inclement weather.
The Dallas Dog Park is located at 8000 Mockingbird Lane in Dallas.
From 75 (Central Expressway), drive east on Mockingbird Lane. You will pass Greenville Ave, Skillman, Abrams and Williamson. The parking lot for the park is past the West Lawther turn on the south side of Mockingbird. It is immediately before the water, so if you see White Rock Lake, you've gone too far.
